Magnetic is still being built. This page lets you install the app on your
Android phone and take part in the trial.
Download the app
Download for Android
File A (64-bit) — works on most phones
Other version (32-bit)
File B — entry-level and “Android Go” phones
Which one? Start with file A. If it refuses to install
(“App not installed”), take file B: that one works on every phone.
Do not go by how old the phone is. This is about the processor, not the
age: some phones sold new recently — especially entry-level models running
“Android Go” with 2 GB of memory — need file B. If that is your case,
go straight there and save yourself a wasted download.
Install
- Tap the downloaded file (it shows up in your notifications).
- Android will warn you that this app comes from outside the Play Store:
that is expected, Magnetic is not there yet. Tap
“Settings”, then allow this source.
- Go back and tap “Install”.
- Open Magnetic and enter the phone number you gave us, then the six-digit code
you were sent.
Why no SMS arrives: during the trial, SMS sending is not wired up yet.
Only numbers registered in advance can sign in, using a code passed on by hand — that
is what “by invitation” means. If you have neither a registered number nor a code, ask
the person who sent you this page: installing the app alone will not let you sign in.
If nobody sent you this page, write to
contact@magnetic-app.com.
If you already had a version of Magnetic, just install over it: nothing to
uninstall, and you keep your account and your messages.
The installation is refused — what now?
The message “App not installed” almost always comes down to one thing: the
file does not match the phone's processor.
- Try the other file (file B, 32-bit): it works on every phone.
- If you already had Magnetic and you are switching files, uninstall the
old version first — but you will lose your messages. Whenever
possible, take the same file as last time.
- Check that you have room left: the app needs about 150 MB once
installed.
How do I know if my phone is 32 or 64-bit?
You normally do not need to know: take the first file. If you want to be
sure, install “Droid Hardware Info” or
“CPU-Z” from the Play Store, open the System tab
and read the Instruction Sets line:
- it contains
arm64-v8a → first file (64-bit);
- it only contains
armeabi-v7a → second file (32-bit).
One important tip during the trial
Turn off any VPN or ad blocker (AdGuard and the like) for
Magnetic. They stop messages and notifications from arriving, and they are
the most common cause of an app that seems to “run on empty”.
What about iPhone?
Not yet. Magnetic is an Android app for now. The iPhone version will come
after the public launch.
